We've had a lot of reincarnation discussions this week, so obviously that meant it would show up in the blog...again. We have one friend in particular who has been experiencing some pretty amazing past life recall. We've noticed there's still a lot of mystery and fear around the concept for many people, some due to religious belief others, but most due to lack of desire to explore the concept.
In our experience anytime you are attracted to a particular era or historical period it is a good indication of a possible previous incarnation in that time. We have to experience the full range of human expressions (not to mention those mineral, plant and animal incarnations); from rich to poor, all races/ethnicities, sexualities, genders, countries of origin, physical limitations, etc. in order to move toward full awareness and ultimately "enlightenment" (which incidentally is one of the most highly misunderstood and loaded spiritual terms and definitely deserves a blog post some day soon).
As I mentioned earlier a good place to start is with any strong associations to a historical time period, occupation, country, race, sex, religion, etc., that seems odd or relatively inexplicable given your current identity, education or typical interests.
For example as a kid I was obsessed with opera, and even wanted to train as a male soprano as I had a huge vocal range and could sing quite high. My mentor, who knew nothing of that childhood interest, began "picking up" a lifetime of mine where I was a relatively famous Castrato (which is a talented male singer, usually young, who was castrated in order to preserve his vocal range) in 16th century Italy.
When she said it, I immediately got chills, My attraction to the time period and discipline of opera and even my talent for it as a kid clicked....could it be a coincidence? Maybe, but it felt true in my bones. When you stumble across a significant lifetime for you there will be a sense of an inner "yes". That was one of those moments for me. I've had others but that is the most recent.
However, while remembering that lifetime was interesting, the important part of the realization was to work with the deeper aspects of that incarnation in order to balance some of that karma. There were other emotional issues from that lifetime, (which apparently was a little bit like a cutthroat episode of The Borgias), that have some remnants in my current life. So our work shifted from the historical details of the life to the deeper meaning. The remembrance was merely a tool for me to address some emotional baggage that I was previously unaware of; or only peripherally aware of.
Discovering past lifetimes can help you to move through the echo of issues of those lifetimes in the current lifetime and integrate the lesson of that particular life so you can continue to grow. Sometimes those issues are physical ailments or conditions, sometimes they are thought patterns, emotional patterns or relationship issues. It can take a while to move through certain karmic contracts. Have fun with it. Even if you don't "believe" in past lives it can often be interesting to intuitively explore those interests, obsessions, etc., and see what comes up for you.
Our Top 6 Reincarnation Picks:
1) Many Lives, Many Masters by Brian Weiss M.D.
One of the foremost books on the topic. Dr. Weiss's explores the topic through case studies he uncovered during hypnotic therapy. The book primarily follows his initial past life recall patient and her journey to uncover the deeper meaning behind her memories.
2.) Same Soul, Many Bodies by Brian Weiss M.D.
Another great one by Brian Weiss, here he shares more case studies of past life recall as well as progression therapy .
3.) Journey of Souls by Michael Newton PhD
This book explores life between lives, which is quite fascinating. I've heard these concepts echoed across cultures. The fascinating thing is the people who recall these experiences typically know nothing of this material and are surprised at what they said during regression therapy. The coherence of experiences is noteworthy.
4.) Return To Life: Extraordinary Cases of Children Who Remember Past Lives by Jim Tucker M.D
Many children now are having vivid memories of past lives. Parents are often dumbfounded and scared about how to help them. This book explores case studies of really incredible child past life recall.
5.) Reincarnation The Missing Link in Christianity by Elizabeth Clare Prophet and Erin L. Prophet
Many Christians have a difficult time with past lives because they believe it eliminates the possibility of going to heaven and reuniting with loved ones. This book exposes how reincarnation was eliminated from biblical theology, and reveals passages and indications of its presence in early Christian texts.
6.) Reincarnation and Karma: Edgar Cayce Series by Edgar Cayce
Edgar Cayce was perhaps the worlds most famous psychic and his predictions and insights still impress even the staunchest skeptics today. PhD had great insight into the nature of reincarnation and karma and shares it in this series.
